Intuitive eating looks different on everyone, but I get annoyed seeing all of the disordered food diary type of blog posts that people showcase as healthy, so every so often I like to show what intuitive eating (normal eating) looks like for me. You should listen to your body for what you need and what, but this is a good representation of how food choices can be made that don’t revolve around diet culture.
Lately I’ve been having extra milky whole milk lattes in the morning. I’ve started experiencing some extremely bad heartburn and milk really helps… so instead of coffee + cream, I have a milky latte. Bananas also help so I had a banana shortly after. It got rid of the heartburn! Also took an orange with me for later. Photos taken the next day… because I kept forgetting to take pictures… But they’re the same as the day before.
Left the house around 8 to go to my moms before going to work at a clients. Got there around 9ish, made myself french toast with the cinnamon roll bread I’d made the day prior (like cinnamon swirl bread… except I made it like cinnamon buns and just rolled it in to a loaf… so it’s better because it’s brown sugar and butter layers. YESSS). Drizzled maple syrup on it after.
Left her house to go to work around 10ish, finished up around 12:20ish and had the orange and a few chocolate covered almonds. I wasn’t really hungry, but I knew lunch would be later. Headed out to run errands.
Grabbed a pita around 1:45. Whole wheat pita filled with tons of hummus, lots of fresh crisp veggies, some sauteed veggies, olives, feta cheese and tzaziki. Favorite lunch ever. Recycled photo because I forgot to take a picture and I get the same thing every time anyway.
Ran more errands after lunch, got home around 3ish, ate some chocolate chips because I fancied them… no other reason. Decided I was done with work for the day and watched Netflix for a bit. Made some cheese buns for lunches the following day and started making dinner around 5:45.
Mark got home around 6:45 and we ate. Taco bowls from my recipe archives except instead of rice, we just ate chips and I added extra beans to the meat mixture. Topped with red bell pepper, red onions I’d pickled a few days prior, green onions, cheese, salsa and sour cream. I wasn’t super hungry for this, so normally I’d probably have had a bigger bowl/more chips.
Usually I’d have something dessert-y after dinner, but I was just really tired and full and didn’t have an appetite for anything. A few hours later I think I remember eating half a chocolate chip cookie but I don’t even remember why. Probably because I knew I hadn’t eaten enough and figured I should get some calories in. IDK I was pretty sleepy.
So it goes. As it happened, the next morning (today) I was pretty hungry from not eating as much as usual so had a bigger breakfast. The hunger always catches up.
