We don’t have a grocery recap for this week as I mentioned before because I was away a lot. I also don’t have one for next week because life was busy and a bit stressful and I just bought stuff randomly instead of in a ‘haul’ and used it as needed. Sooo, the following week there will be a recap. I’ve had a lot of good feedback that you guys like this style of post! Yay! I’ll keep doing them.
But I thought for this week and next I’d just show the weekly eats because that was easier than breaking everything down.
I also want to paint the picture of normalcy. As in, what people who don’t live in diet culture eat. I talk about it a lot, but if anyone even comes near me with the mention of any diets I shut it down. I believe in intuitive eating/ health at every size, and I think it’s good for people to see what ‘normal’ looks like. In general, it’s a lot more food than what people in diet culture view as normal. Also, I like these styles of posts from other people because it gives me ideas for changing things up to keep my taste buds interested.
ANYWHO here we go!
You know what it’s gonna be….
Banana chocolate chip baked oatmeal with whipped peanut butter cream cheese icing! and an apple. Also coffee with 35% cream that I had before. After I finished this I went back for a bit more of the oatmeal.
Banana chocolate chip baked oatmeal with salted peanut butter and an apple. Plus the usual coffee. I wasn’t feeling the icing this time, and was feeling straight up salted peanut butter. Yum.
Pan fried russet potatoes in olive oil and TJs seasoned salt, scrambled eggs in butter and TJs everything bagel seasoning and an apple. Coffee, obvs.
Lately I eat some of a cookie or square of dark chocolate with my coffee most mornings. I don’t always, but honestly when my sleep is crap (as it usually is for me by February, thanks SADs), having something sweet and chocolatey with my coffee is comforting. Yeah, it’s emotional eating. That’s normal and okay as long as you also have other coping mechanisms. I have many.
Other breakfasts from the week can be seen in the weekend post!
This week was weird for lunch. One day I had Tjs peanut butter filled pretzels with a salad eaten later. I wasn’t really hungry and nothing sounded good so I just had that. It happens.
Random leftovers of pizza, salad, grapes, manchego cheese and crackers. did that 3 times.
Cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, butter and peanut butter, and a salad. They don’t go together, but this was another weird day.
Another cinnamon raisin bagel + lots of butter + salad + tomato with hummus
Panera salads/sammies on the weekend post.
Doctored up frozen pizza. My grocery store makes really good frozen pizzas and I wasn’t in the mood to make my own, so I took their 4 cheese pizza (which is ginormous btw… about 12 big pieces for $4.50) and added goat cheese, caramelized onions and pepperoni.
Gnocchi! Brown butter, asiago, sauteed green beans in lots of olive oil and salt.
Other dinners from weekend post.
Went out with friends for drinks and trivia, got a giant cheeseboard and a ‘mezze’ board with pesto, tzaziki, hummus, veggies, pita bread, crackers and 6 or 7 kinds of cheese. Eaten between two of us. SO MUCH CHEESE. I took zero photos because I didn’t bring my phone.
Pizza. I was grabbing dinner with friends at 6:45/7ish and it was 5:00, I was hungry and needed something so I had a slice of pizza. Did the trick.
Salad with everything from the fridge + goat cheese. Intuitive eating can be weird sometimes… I couldn’t finish my lunch that day because I just wasn’t experiencing a lot of hunger. Around 3:30 when I got home I fancied something and it turned out I fancied salad of all things to keep me going until dinner.
Chocolate milk. Is that a snack? Felt like it for me. Lately I’ve been replacing my nightly wine with chocolate milk. It’s a weird replacement, but whatever. I like it.
Chocolate. Various forms. Always.
Graham crackers with peanut butter.
Frozen sour and sweet cherries, pomegranate seeds and strawberries topped with heavy cream. Added a bit of milk to thin it out a bit more after I let it thaw. This was a smoothie pack mix that I bought because I liked the mix of fruit. I don’t really do smoothies. Fruit + cream all the way.
That was it! I’ll have another post this style next week before we get back to our recaps. Have the best weekend! Put your phones away, connect with other humans face-to-face and do something relaxing/fun.
